Alterverse: Nordic Confederation

Here is a flag of the Nordic Confederation, a tribal confederation of pagan Norse tribes within an alternate universe that have survived almost a thousand years of war against the United Roman Empire. They live in the lands of Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. There exists a high birth rate in the region, which had forced them to migrate to the predominately Protestant United Cherokee States and the Orthodox Russian Empire, although they ended up facing religious persecution. Roman propaganda deems them as uncivilized "race traitors" and views their pagan beliefs as "devil worship". Human sacrifice is still practiced by the Norse, including even those who live outside of Scandinavia. They are known to be a homophobic, patriarchal, superstitious, and xenophobic people by nature who belive in a flat earth held up by a cosmic tree. Despite this, they a superpower in their own right, although the weakest in the world, with a king elected by the chieftains to lead the Norse people.
